At J.S. McCarthy, we’ve always believed that great things happen when the right people, the right technology, and a relentless commitment to excellence come together. This March, that belief was proven once again—this time on a global stage.
We’re proud to share that we’ve officially broken the world record for folding carton production, printing 429,000 net sellable sheets in just 24 hours on our Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 press.
That’s not just fast—it’s history-making.
While the headline is all about speed, this achievement reflects something much deeper. It’s the result of years of intentional investment in automation and innovation, strong supplier partnerships, and a culture of ownership that runs through every department at JSM.
We ran 23.6 pt CKB™ board from Stora Enso—a thick, premium paperboard—at a sustained speed of 21,000 sheets per hour, across two 12-hour shifts. Over the course of 67 hours, our team printed over 1.17 million sheets with exceptional consistency and virtually no downtime.
This wasn't just about pushing buttons and watching numbers climb. Our press operators, apprentices, material handlers, and in-house sheeting team worked in perfect sync to make it happen. Every pallet swap, every quality check, every makeready mattered.
Yes, the Speedmaster XL 106 is one of the most advanced offset presses in the world. But technology alone doesn’t break records—people do. Our employees are also our owners, which means every team member is personally invested in doing great work and delivering for our customers.
We’ve built a business where high performance and high standards go hand in hand. Whether we’re running a record-breaking job or a custom short-run project, our focus stays the same: quality, speed, and customer success.
Setting a world record is an exciting milestone—but for us, it’s just the beginning. This achievement underscores JSM’s evolution from a respected commercial printer into a national leader in folding carton packaging. We’re serving some of the most demanding industries out there—food, pharmaceutical, beauty, and consumer goods—and we’re committed to delivering the kind of reliability, consistency, and excellence they require.
So, what’s next? More innovation. More speed. More pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in packaging.
And as always—more reasons to be proud of the incredible people who make J.S. McCarthy what it is.
