Creating PDFs in Quark Xpress 8.1 and later

Creating PDFs from Quark XPress 8.1 can be done by exporting directly to Postscript and distilling the resulting file in Acrobat Distiller. If you don’t have Acrobat Distiller you may use the built-in Quark PDF export filter, but generally you will get the best results if you use Acrobat Distiller to convert Postscript to PDF.

These instructions are only for Quark Xpress 8.1. With this version Quark introduced the ability to export live transparency which greatly improves it’s PDF export capabilities  If you are using Quark XPress 8.1 or later you will get MUCH better results if you use these settings. If you are using Quark 7 through 8.02 you should use the settings for Quark 7 instead.
